Great Ocean Road – Sovereign Hill & Werribee Zoo

6 Days – Monday 10th to Saturday 15th November 2025

Accommodation: Portland, Apollo Bay, Geelong, Ballarat, Horsham

Highlights of the tour:

  • «Three iconic places in one tour: stunning scenery on the Great Ocean Road, Werribee Open Plains Zoo and historic Sovereign Hill.
  • «Travel through the South East of state and the iconic Great Ocean Road, through towns such as Portland (our first night’s accommodation), Warrnambool, Port Fairy and Port Campbell, stopping to see the Twelve Apostles. Then through the Great Otway National Park before arriving at Apollo Bay, for our second night.
  • «Continue along the coast passing through Lorne, Aireys Inlet, Anglesea, Torquey and the historic seaside village of Queenscliff on the Bellarine Peninsula. Take time to stroll before a brief tour of the historic buildings. We now drive to Geelong visiting the Wharf area with it’s Antique Carousel and Bollard Walk and seeing the sites of Geelong.
  • «Enjoy a trackless train ride along Eastern Beach and the city’s waterfront, passing by some of the 104 huge painted bollards, which represent a fascinating and fun chronicle of Geelong’s past and characters who played a part. Be transported back to your childhood with a ride on the antique Carousel.
  • «We start a new day with a tour of the African themed Werribee Open Plains Zoo with a 45 minute bus seeing zebra, giraffe, rhino, lions, monkeys & meerkats to name a few.
  • «Travel onto historical Ballarat where gold was discovered sparking the Victorian gold rush. Tour the city sights with it’s beautiful old buildings before checking into our motel to get ready for dinner and to see the brand new night time show called “Aura”, telling the story of the gold rush and eureka uprising.
  • «We will spend time at the award winning historic Sovereign Hill, Ballarat, a trip back in time and a highlight for young and old. Stroll through the “streets”, pan for gold, pick up a pastry from the bakery, try your hand at ten pin bowling or maybe pop into the Redhill Photographic rooms and have your photo taken in period costume. Later that day we continue onto Horsham for the night via Ararat, Beaufort and Stawell.
  • «Our last day we slowly make our way home with quick stops at Goroke and Kaniva to see the stunning painted silos abnd Bordertown (where our former Prime Minister Bob Hawke lived his early years). Enjoy a delicious two course lunch when we stop at the Keith Hotel.
  • «Relax on the last leg of the journey as you travel back to Adelaide passing through Coonalpyn (SA’s first painted silo) and Tailem Bend (home of The Bend Racetrack).
