Highlights of the tour:
«Begin our journey which will include many highlights including a Puffing Billy train ride and KaBloom Festival in the Dandenongs, Fairy Penguins and the Race Track on Phillip Island, Giant Stick Shed at Murtoa and of course the amazing Avalon Airshow at Lara, just north of Geelong.
«Our first stop will be at Tailem Bend for a quick cuppa and biscuit.
«We will pass through Kaniva and then make our next break at Nhill in the Wimmera region, home of the Luv-a-Duck Processing Plant.
«Arrive at Bendigo. Bendigo was originally a gold rush boom town, full of ornate architecture, a diverse cultural heritage and home to the Central Deborah Gold Mine, Bendigo Pottery and the Talking Tram.
«We will drive to Phillip Island, a 101 square kilometre island and home of the Little Penguins, Panny’s Chocolates, Vietnam Veterans Museum and Phillip Island Motorbike Racetrack. We will visit the Racetrack, see it’s museum and you can have your photo taken on the podium.
«Enjoy dinner at Wing Lock Restaurant for an early Chinese Banquet.
«Make our way to see the Fairy Penguin Parade. You can experience watching these amazing seabirds from the viewing platforms and boardwalks as they waddle home from the ocean to their burrows. Listen to them call out to other Penguins after sometimes being out at sea for days.
«Visit the Dandenong’s for a ride on the iconic Puffing Billy Train from Belgrave to Lakeside. Hop on board the historic steam train The Puffing Billy, take a seat in an open-sided carriage and enjoy your journey, travelling through the magnificent Dandenong Ranges. See the lush fern gullies and Mountain Ash Trees towering overhead.
«Entry to the KaBloom Festival and see the fields filled with millions of colourful blooms. Enjoy sensational scenery, entertainment, delicious food and more in the glorious autumn weather.
«Drive to the Avalon Airshow at Lara, home of Avalon airport.
«The Airshow is Australia’s biannual international aviation and aerospace expo which started way back in 1992. The public spectacular incorporates civilian and military flying displays, live music and ground entertainment, plus we will be there for the Friday night pyrotechnic show.
«See Helicopters, Warbirds, Raptor Jets, Parachuting, Wing Walking, Aerial Aerobatics, Gliders, Drones, so many static displays and who knows what other things they have in store for us, the official program has not been released yet. Of course our own Roulettes normally perform there and fingers crossed the Black Eagles precision Flying team from the Republic of Korea Airforce will return.
«Board the coach and make our way to Murtoa where we will visit the National Heritage Listed Stick Shed, (previously known as Murtoa 1 Grain Store) and is the only remaining emergency grain store left that was built during World War II.
«Have a guided tour and hear the history and see the enormity of this shed covering 16,000 sq metres and built to house surplus grain in the late 1930’s.
«After leaving Murtoa we arrive at Bordertown (this time we gain half an hour at the border) and we will enjoy a delicious two course lunch here.
