Broken Hill

Accommodation: Hilltop Motel and Roundhouse Motel

Highlights of the tour:

  • «Relax and unwind as we make our way to Broken Hill. Stretch your legs and enjoy morning tea in the park at Tarlee. After morning tea we continue travelling through to Terowie, once SA’s busiest railway town. We will have time to wander and admire their well preserved 1880’s buildings. See where General McArthur made his famous “I shall return” speech.
  • «Visit the Royal Flying Doctor. Take part in a guided tour where you will experience behind the scenes access to RFDS.
  • «Stop in Silverton, a once booming silver mining town. This is where we will find Mundi Mundi Lookout and Umberumberka Reservoir. Fantastic panoramic views of wide open spaces are waiting us here.
  • «Have lunch at the Silverton Hotel and then make our way to the only Australian museum dedicated to Mad Max 2. View the amazing collection of photographs, life sized characters in full costumes, but also discover what impact Mad Max 2 had on the region. The museum also has a souvenirs shop for all those fans that would like to take memorabilia home with them.
  • «Visit Silver City Mint & Arts Centre. Opened for the first time to the public in 2001, Ando’s Big picture quickly became Broken Hill’s number one attraction. If you have never been, then prepare yourself to walk through the world’s largest acrylic painting on canvas by a single artist.
  • «Visit the Outback Sunset Sculpture Symposium. A chance to experience the outback and the natural scenery of the Living Desert Sculptures at sunset.
  • «Enjoy a tour of Broken Hill with a local tour guide joining our bus. We will see places like Line of Lode Miner’s Memorial, Afghan Mosque, the picnic Train ambush site and many of the local significant buildings.
  • «Drive to Menindee Lakes “a photographer’s paradise” with it’s stunning natural landscape and it’s abundant wildlife. We will have time to stretch our legs and absorb it’s beauty.
  • «Visit The Palace Hotel. The hotel was used as a stop-over for the characters of the 1994 iconic movie, Priscilla Queen of the Dessert.
  • «Stop and visit the Sulphide Street Railway & Historical Museum. The museum complex houses the Silverton Tramway Company locomotives and memorabilia.
